Disaster Relief Resources Training Opportunities Preparedness Contact Information

The Men's Ministry Department of the Louisiana Baptist Convention has been involved in Disaster Relief ministries for 28 years. We invite you to join us as we “bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ." Gal. 2.

To Get Involved 

  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, male or female. No special skills are needed, just a love for God and your fellow man, plus a willingness to serve as needed. The above map will flag Disaster Relief deployments and unit needs for the display area.  Follow the instructions below to best use the map.  Below the instructions is a list of all deployments and unit needs.
  • Choose a field to volunteer in:

  • View the Basic Orientation Training online
  • View the Feeding Unit Training Video online
  • Fill out the Disaster Relief Database Form form
  • Attend a training event to get your credentials and hands on experience. Bring your filled out database form to turn in.  Check for upcoming training dates here under the Training Opportunities tab and under "Featured Events" at www.LBC.org.
  • Be prepared for deployment when called during the next disaster.

Additional Information
  • Louisiana Baptist Men's Ministry has one mass feeding unit, a 32 ft. food service trailer capable of preparing over 25,000 meals a day. There are also 2 regional feeding units in Louisiana.
  • One in Northshore Baptist Association, capable of preparing 12,000 meals a day, and one in the Ruston area ministry of Rolling Hills Baptist Resort Ministry which is capable of preparing 25,000 meals per day.
  • The most important aspect of Disaster Relief is helping to rebuild lives. Disaster victims experience shock, sorrow, anger, grief, and many other emotions. Disaster Relief volunteers demonstrates the love of Christ. When people see that God's people really care for them, they come to understand that God cares for them also. 
  • Our newest addition is the Medical Professional Team that responds nationally as well as internationally.

In a disaster, the difference between surviving well, just getting by, or not surviving at all may be a matter of preparedness.  While even the best prepared may not escape difficulty, being properly prepared increases the chance of surviving many of the difficulties that accompany disasters.  This list of resources is to help you be prepared so that when disaster does strike, you can decrease your chances of being a victim.
